Permanent IdentificationPermanent identification, otherwise known as microchipping, consists of a permanent implant underneath the skin at the base of the neck, that is encoded with a number specific to your pet. When your pet is scanned with a microchipping scanner, this number can be traced through a central database which then identifies your pet. The implant is only very small, around the same size as a grain of rice.
The new Brisbane City Council laws state that all puppies and kittens between the ages of 8 weeks and 12 weeks must be microchipped. This is a great law, as the microchipping of all pets will ensure a quick and safe return home for your pet. Just make sure your details are up to date!
