Our Nurses
Wendy Humberdross C.V.N. and "Fudge" ~ Head Veterinary Nurse
Hi! My name is Wendy and I am a Qualified Veterinary Nurse here at Zillmere Vet Surgery. I have been part of our wonderful team since 2nd January 2003. I am a keen animal lover with a particular passion for our feline friends.
I believe that continuing education is a vital resource in providing our patients with the very best of care. With this in mind, I am always busy updating my skills. I have a special interest in surgical nursing, veterinary dentistry, and companion animal nutrition and have recently attended seminars in surgical nursing and behaviour. I have also completed online staff management and veterinary dentistry courses as well as a dentistry wet lab here in Brisbane.
I am a member of the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia, as well as the Veterinary Support personnel Network.
Animals are my passion, and caring for our patients makes each day exciting and rewarding. Feel free to come in and talk to me for any advice you require, or just come in and say hello!
Louise Anderson with "Neville" and "Nugget" ~ Veterinary Nurse
I began working with animals at a Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Thailand working with injured and neglected animals such as a tiger, civets, monkeys and gibbons, definitely the highlight of my career!!.
I am the new adoptive mum of a very bossy stray kitten, Turbo by name and by nature, who has decided to own us. I have always owned big dogs and have never had a cat before so the learning curve has been very steep! I found the Kitten Kindy extremily helpful with learning ways to deal with the naughty things that kitties get up to. We also have two rats, Nugget and Neville. They were an interesting choice for pets, but are the gentlest little boys who love to snuggle, lick and explore! I have to say the big slobbery boofy dogs are still my favourites! I just can't afford the food bill!
I look forward to helping with your enquiries as best I can, please don't hesitate to call me for any reason......and remember.....when it comes to our pets, there are no stupid questions.
Victoria Koks and "Nicholas" ~ Veterinary Nurse
Hi, my name is Vicky and I am currently undertaking a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) at QUT. Despite this alternate career choice, I love working with animals and the environment here at the Zillmere Vet Surgery is so much fun.
High quality of care for animals is very important to me. Here at the Zillmere Vet Surgery we excel in all our pet standards of care and this is one reason why I love working here.
My favourite pass-time is horse riding and I have a keen interest in animal behaviour. I have learnt a lot from working here, and my continuing education in animal welfare is both fulfilling and exciting. I look forward to seeing you around our clinic, caring for your pets and answering any questions. Vet nursing allows me to combine my skills, knowledge and love for our fury friends. I hope to see you around our practice and care for your pets.
Casey Bennett and "Timmy" ~ Veterinary Nurse
Hello All. My name is Casey and I am very dedicated and have a massive soft spot for animals. I am currently studying companion animals to be completed this December and will go on to study Veterinary Nursing next year in 2010.
At the moment I am manning the front counter as Client Relations and will be continuing this next year as well as my Vet Nursing, so you will be seeing much more of my smiling face around the clinic! I am loving working with the Zillmere Veterinary Clinic and hope to be here for a long time to come. As I have pets of my own, one to which I foster as part of the RSPCA program, I understand the love and commitment we all put into our beloved furry friends, and I look forward to sharing stories with you all.
Our Kennel Hands
Megan Koks ~ Animal Caretaker
Hello! I work here after school and on Saturday mornings and my favourite part of this job is talking to the staff and clients. I love working here and I have so much fun meeting and greeting all of the lovely animals that come in here.
I am currently entering my first year of universtiy, graduating from St. Rita's College last year with an OP2. I will be studying a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Journalism and Creative Writing. When I am not enjoying working or studying, I love to hang out with my friends, go shopping, read books and listen to music.
Chloe Rogers ~ Animal Caretaker
Hello, I have recently joined the team here working after school as a kennel hand. I enjoy seeing all the dogs and cats out the back, even though I usually have to clean up after them. I am currently still completing high school and will soon begin a traineeship as a veterinary nurse here at the surgery. I look forward to meeting you and your pets in the future and getting to know the great staff here a bit better :D.
Our Clinic Mascots
"Piper" ~ Resident People Greeter!
Piper is our resident People Greeter. When visiting our practice you will see her following our staff around, looking for some attention! She loves pats and cuddles, and is more than happy to accept your praises!
"Tim" The clinic cat! ~ Freeloader
Tim has been living here at the surgery since Karen bought the practice in October 2000. Originally presented as a stray for euthanasia, Karen decided he should have a new career as a feline blood donor.
He has now retired from that duty and his current responsibilities include purring, producing the occasional hair ball and breaking into any bags of canine low allergy food we are silly enough to leave within Timmy reach.
